As an integral part of the HR department, Compensation and Benefits Managers are vital in any company. You will be looking after the employee's best interests, implementing rewards & benefits (such as medical insurance and pension schemes.)
You'll role will involve advising management on any employee related issue, and be expect to take charge in making any necessary changes. This will involve research on other company's policies and make recommendations on what improvements should be made.
Having direct contact with staff your role can be quite varied, with any new staff you'll be explaining a company's benefit packages. With any outgoing employees you'll be giving leaving interviews where they'll be informed of the expiration of their benefits and how unused holiday entitlement will be handled.
If your company is creating a new position then it will be your job to research what salary and benefits should be offered to any prospective employees.
Your Job Duties will include:
Monitor salary structure.
Develop benefit packages.
Ensure the correct legality is followed for all benefits and packages.
Negotiate any employee issues with unions.
Maintain a high standard with personnel record systems.
Decision maker for; paid hourly or a yearly salary.
Build relationships with other companies to provide: food, transport, etc.
A regular 9-5 position with 35-40 hours a week, your salary will be around £22,000 - 40,000. Going further up the management or senior level in this role could bring a salary of £50,000.
As a Compensation and Benefits Manager you should:
Hold good negotiation skills.
Gather and analyse facts and statistics.
Have good organisation skills with an attention to detail.
