Description
London Business School is recruiting for its HR Team.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a best practice HR team, providing a professional generalist HR and recruitment service to managers and staff across the School. We are looking to recruit to the following positions: -
HR Business Advisor (Up to 18 months fixed-term contract - maternity cover)
Circa £30,000 pro rata per annum, plus excellent benefits
HR Assistant (permanent)
Circa £22,000 pro rata per annum, plus excellent benefits

HR Business Advisor will have the opportunity to be involved in the following activities:
- With recruiting manager formulate an appropriate recruitment strategy for each post from approval, advertising, use of agencies, arranging and conducting interviews and reviewing salaries to reference checking and final offer.
- Advise line managers and staff on HR and contractual issues e.g. probation and performance management, sickness/absence, diversity, disciplinary and grievance procedures. Remain aware of and advise on implications of new legislation.
- Conduct maternity counselling for all employees that are due to go on and return from maternity leave, ensuring their managers are aware of their rights and dates of leave. Advise line managers and staff on flexible working applications.
- Provide advice and conduct disciplinary and grievance hearings, support managers in undertaking them, take notes and write confirmation and follow up letters with managers.
The successful candidate will be a graduate with a good working knowledge of employment legislation and ideally be full or part CIPD qualified. You will have experience of managing recruitment campaigns including interviewing and advising managers on selection decisions and advising managers on interviewing and you will have handled various case work such as probationary and performance management issues. It is essential that you have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and have an aptitude for analysing data.
HR Assistant will have the opportunity to be involved in the following activities:
- Recruitment coordination: organising interviews; reviewing job descriptions; drafting and placing job adverts; attendance of interviews; managing temporary and casual staffing needs
- Payroll activities and managing the employee benefits schemes
- Taking notes at disciplinary and grievance hearings, and other formal meetings
This is a fantastic entry level HR position for someone with an interest in Recruitment/Human Resources. The post holder must have the ability to work efficiently and effectively with a high level of activity and changing priorities and have absolute discretion when dealing with confidential matters. Demonstrated written communication skills, strong interpersonal and organisational skills are required. Experience in a similar administrative role is essential.
