HR Manager (Assistant Director), Faculty Human Resources - Research & Faculty Office

London Business School

Up to 13 months maternity cover contract

Salary: Up to £43,000 per annum, plus excellent benefits

The position

 

  • Ensure that human resources policies for faculty are updated and implemented including ensuring they are in line with legislative changes and other compliance needs.
  • Manage the faculty recruitment process in conjunction with the Subject Area team, Faculty and other members of the Research and Faculty team. 
  • Manage all types of performance review for faculty; liaising with all relevant internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure that the annual review of faculty salaries is managed and coordinated in an efficient and timely manner and oversee the monthly staff movement process with Accounts.
  • Oversee faculty data and ensure that is returned to external bodies accurately and on time.
  • Provide advice and guidance to Subject Area Chairs and Subject Area Administrators to ensure the School's HR policies for faculty are delivered to a high standard and in a timely fashion.  Act as secretary to the Subject Area Chair meetings.
  • Ensure that all contracts for faculty (both contracts of employment and contracts for services) are up-to-date and in line with current legislation; and are prepared and delivered in a timely manner; and that all invoices for consultants are handled in an expeditious fashion.
  • Take responsibility for managing any grievances and/or other cases relating to faculty.
  • Have oversight of the School's teaching administration system including teaching points and teaching evaluations, liaising as required with other departments, to ensure the accurate and timely provision of data as and when required.
  • Implement the School's diversity policy in relation to faculty, disseminating good practice and ensuring the School remains compliant with legislation; developing new and revising current policies and codes of practice, and linking them with other School initiatives as required. Act as secretary to the School's Diversity Working Group.

The Research and Faculty Office is responsible for providing support for faculty as follows:

  • (a) Faculty Support
  • Support for Subject Areas through the management and guidance of subject area administrators.
  • The HR function for faculty, including the administration of the teaching point system.
  • Managing the operation of the following Committees: Executive Committee, Management Board and Faculty Board.
  • (b) Research Support
  • Support for the research activities of faculty, including providing an interface with external research grant-funding bodies and assisting faculty in obtaining funds from them.
  • Managing the PhD Programme.

 

The individual

With substantial demonstrable HR experience in higher education, the successful candidate will ideally be CIPD qualified with sound knowledge of employment law and its practical application,. The candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and have a sound understanding of the demands of running a pro-active HR service for faculty.
