Your new company A fantastic job opportunity has arisen for an experienced SHEQ Manager to join a market leading international manufacturing group based in Cumbria on a permanent basis. Your new role Reporting directly into the plant manager as part of the operational management team you will be expected to manager and deliver a robust and inclusive health and safety system ensuring the business continues to comply with legislation and company policy. You will be responsible for driving and leading a great safety culture showing continuous improvement and engagement across all areas of the business. You will ensure compliance and develop management systems including ISO and OHSAS as well as liaising with relevant external bodies such as the HSE and trade associations on all issues relating to the business and Health & Safety. You will offer advice and guidance across all levels of the business leading the SHEQ team of 4 direct reports to deliver excellent site based service. What you'll need to succeedTo be successful in this role you will have a proven background in a fast paced high risk manufacturing environment, qualified to a minimum of Degree or Diploma level as well as being a Graduate member of IOSH with a good understanding of the WCM Safety Pillar. You will have a proven understanding of the World Class Manufacturing System Pillars with particular understanding and ownership of the safety pillar as well as ISO and OHSAS systems with a background ideally in auditing as well as first hand experience of dealing with local authorities and regulatory bodies. Understanding and experience of IPPC permits would be advantageous. The ability to lead a health & safety culture is essential in this role with consistent improvement and growth being the aim. You will be a highly capable communicator able to deliver your message across all levels effectively, building fantastic working relationships with a hands on people focussed approach.
