The Background:
Reporting to the IA Manager the successful candidate will manage the collation of pay and benefit data for international assignees globally and provide support and advice to the business on the international assignment and transfer of personnel, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation. In addition you will contribute to the development of global policy through pro-active involvement with HR Managers and regional specialists.
The Role:
The responsibilities of a Global Mobility Advisor will include but not limited to the following:
Determines, in conjunction with Divisional HR, individual assignment category within policy framework, and prepares individual assignment documentation.
Prepares individual assignment cost estimates & ensures correct authorisation of assignments
Provides technical support on all aspects of international assignments, as appropriate, referring individual assignment documentation to Global Mobility Manager (GMM) for approval
Ensures consistency of approach within policy guidelines and escalates any potential policy exceptions to GMM.
Manages collation and distribution of global compensation and benefit data for tax purposes and responds to questions from Expatriate Tax Provider
Provides key point of contact for international payroll in the UK, including Modified Payroll
Manages tax implications of assignments and develops effective working relationships with the company's global Expatriate tax advisers
Maintains International Assignment database & individual files, ensuring adequate planning and tracking of critical events e.g. salary review, incentive payments, extensions, repatriation etc
Coordinates annual salary review process for international assignees on a global basis and calculates updates to Hypotax, Cost of Living etc. for individual assignments
Reviews social security position for individual assignments and ensures relevant Certificates of Coverage are obtained (including applications from the UK)
Ensures arrangement of necessary work permits and visas, liaising with professional advisers, as required. Provides relevant and practical advice to the business, with particular focus on UK immigration for individuals coming to the UK and requirements within the Points Based System
Manages UK Short Term Business Visitor compliance and advises on potential exposures re business visitors globally, liaising with professional advisers, as required.
Working with Graduate Development Manager, manages International Graduate Assignments, including obtaining any visas/work permits for global placements and managing potential tax/social security implications
Assists with refinement and development of international assignment policy and practice at global and regional levels in conjunction with GMM
Assists with provision of Management Information on international assignments, including demographic information, return on investment by reference to retention rates/career progression, supplier expenditure etc.
Provides relevant and practical advice to the business on general International Assignment issues and highlight specific compliance issues
Pays particular attention to pension arrangements and continuity of benefits for assignees, working closely with the GMM, Pensions Technical Manager (UK), US Benefits Team and regional specialists, as appropriate.
The Person:
The successful candidate will have previous experience dealing with: international assignments, global mobility and expatriate management issues. Applicants with additional expatriate compensation or taxation experience would be desirable. Finally, the ability to build relationships with and communicate in a clear and confident manner with overseas HR departments and International Assignees is essential.
