Learning and Development Manager (12 month FTC)
£80K + bonus + benefits
London

My client, a global law firm is looking for a China Academy Programme Manager, 12 month FTC to support the firm's people strategy and strategic initiatives to build capability in relation to China and Chinese clients, and to develop the legal, business, commercial and interpersonal skills of trainees and associates through the China Academy.


Key Responsibilities:

· Analysing training and development needs of the target groups, identifying appropriate best practice delivery methods, designing, and where appropriate, delivering training and other development support, such as mentoring and coaching, as part of the China Academy.
· Develop and implement the strategy for the China Academy, and assist management in communicating and implementing the China Academy.
· Ensure that the China Academy is aligned with the firm's people strategy, career milestones, global and regional L&D programmes and performance support within Asia and other relevant offices (e.g. London and US).
· Evaluate and continuously improve the China Academy to ensure that it is meeting objectives and adding value to the business.
· Develop close productive relationships with key stakeholders in Asia, London and the US, and the firm's worldwide L&D community and HR and recruitment teams, and act as a first point of contact for all matters related to the China Academy.
· Prepare and manage the budget for the China Academy, quality assurance and reporting as appropriate.
· Work with internal subject matter experts, training faculty and external suppliers to develop training sessions, preparing specifications, managing the supplier relationship, ensure appropriate quality standards and value for money.
· Provide advisory guidance to China Academy Participants relating to compliance with their continuing professional development and bar requirements.
· Provide pastoral support to programme participants (e.g. regular advice, catch-ups and meetings to review progress and gather their feedback).
· Manage the process of accrediting China Academy programmes with appropriate educational and regulatory institutions (e.g. bar, law society, and university or business school).
· Participate in global L&D/firmwide development projects as appropriate, according to knowledge, skills, experience and business needs.


Requirements:

· Ideally experienced learning and development professional with experience gained in a law firm or other professional services organisation.
· Educated to degree level. Appropriate professional qualification (e.g. HR or learning design), or equivalent professional experience.
· Experience of working in a multicultural environment, in particular experience of working in or regularly with Asia and China. Strong consulting and interpersonal skills and credibility in working with senior stakeholders and people at all levels both internally and externally, and ability to work in virtual team.
· Good project management skills, with a track record of delivering quality products, on time and on budget, and which meet the business need. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Experience of designing and facilitating training.
· Training delivery skills desirable but not essential
· Experience of managing external supplier relationships
· Proficient in all usual office IT packages (PowerPoint, Word, Excel). Experience of designing and implementing e-learning desirable but not essential.
· Mandarin language skills desirable but not essential.
