Senior HR Manager

Up to £40K + profit share

Location: Woking

Full time employment although flexible and part time working will be considered

Hours: 9.00 am to 5.30 pm


SFW grew significantly in 2011 and the current headcount is 102 comprising 73 in the UK and 29 in India. The company is continuing to grow and to support this growth a new management structure is being established along with a formal strategy and business planning process.

The Senior HR Manager will contribute to the development of the HR strategy and lead on the delivery of the HR business plan. In particular SFW is seeking to implement strategies in Performance Management and Talent Management.

This role will provide visible leadership of HR within SFW.

Key Performance Indicators

These will be discussed and agreed as part of the business planning process and is likely to include

  1. Revenue, ROI and costs per resource

  2. Recruitment costs and attrition rates

  3. Training costs and ROI

  4. Benchmarking of salaries

Key responsibilities and duties

  • Provide leadership in HR strategies and work closely with the board and operations manager to implement new strategies particularly for Performance Management and Talent Management

  • Ensure that effective and appropriate HR Policies and Procedures are in place which meet legal requirements, best practice and organisational objectives

  • Manage the HR team ensuring that they are clear about expected standards of performance, motivated and developed to provide professional HR services

  • Ensure that managers and staff receive effective and appropriate advice and support on the implementation and interpretation of HR policies and procedures

  • Source and manage recruitment agencies

  • Launch and manage a project to put in place initiatives which will enable us to recruit 50% of new joiners direct

  • Lead the implementation of a company wide competency and skills framework

  • Attending management meetings when necessary

  • Liaise closely with SFW's India office on HR matters and ensure processes are understood and integrated across both sites. Occasional visits to India will be required

  • Ensure that effective learning and development, recruitment strategies, procedures and policies are developed implemented and monitored

  • Manage and monitor the effectiveness of service level agreements between SFW and external contractors for HR Services

  • Manage the Staff Appraisal System updating this as and when necessary, tracking, summarising feedback and outputs from appraisals and monitoring progress of actions set

  • Ensure that effective mechanisms are in place for communication and consultation, and that SFW obtains buy in and commitment of staff and managers.

  • Co-ordinating with the Company's ISO Quality Manager to ensure that HR procedures are executed in line with the Company's IMS, and are correctly described therein.

  • Lead the implementation of a process for sourcing and managing training for staff within the organisation.
