SmithCorp are an independent recruitment company, encompassing 6 recruitment brands, specialising in education, manufacturing and engineering. We have 4 office locations, Bristol, Truro and West London. We are expanding all our brands and are looking for Trainee Consultants to be part of this growth. To succeed you will need to be a self motivated, a great relationship builder, organised, driven, consistent, passionate, resilient and hardworking. These attributes, combined with our support, mentoring and emphasis on training and development, should see you succeed.

We are looking for graduate calibre candidates who can show evidence of an excellent work ethic and a commitment to either their studies, sporting achievements or work experience. We recruit people from many different backgrounds, fresh grads, hospitality, retail, sales, customer services and ex forces/military.

Career Path and Training

We are an organically grown company. SmithCorp develops its own management from the trainee’s it recruits. We operate a meritocratic promotion structure which is measured on performance, not age or length of service. There are no restraints on how quickly you can progress up through the business. Top billers and consultants who are consistent, and who are setting a good example to others and are showing a interest in managing, will be encouraged and trained to do so.

We have our own Business Performance Academy to grow our consultants throughout their career. We have built the business purely by recruiting trainees and all of our Team Leaders, Managers and Directors have come through this system and have continued to develop not only their recruitment skills but their skills in management and leadership.

Expected Earnings and Promotions

This is a sales role and the bulk of your earnings come from placing people into jobs and earning commission, however we do offer a basic that rises by at least 3k throughout your first year.

Year 1
Expect to hit 2 promotions, there is no probation period and you are able to earn commission from day one. You will be appointed a mentor, who will work closely with you for approximately 20 weeks, helping you learn organically on the job. Your mentor will be a top biller in the company, who better to pass on invaluable knowledge and experience! You will also complete two intensive training courses with our own training academy. In your first year you are looking at OTE of 23-30K, however you can earn more, we have had consultants earn up to 42k, but it’s down to you.

Year 2
Within 18 months you should have hit your target for promotion to Senior Consultant and there is every possibility you will be on track to become a Team Leader/Manager which will see your basic salary rise to 25k. Expect to earn 35 - 45k.

Year 3
You could be managing a small team in your third year and if so, the likelihood is, you will be pushing 60k. And as a Manager you yourself will still be undergoing training and development as you continue your journey to senior management.

Year 4/5
With your hard work and commitment you should be managing a strong team by now and have hit Senior Management level. If so you can expect to be earning between 80 - 100k and be progressing towards Director level.

Year 6
If you have made it this far you should be a super biller or Associate Director earning a six figure salary.
