Hays Senior HR Appointments are working in partnership with Leeds Metropolitan to recruit the new role of People Development Manager. Leeds Metropolitan University is a forward looking, dynamic higher education institution employing approximately 3,500 staff. The University has a distinctive vision and is looking for a People Development Manager with the attitude, character and talent to make a difference.
You will lead the People Development team in planning, designing and delivering a range of high quality staff development programmes that support the achievement of the University's strategic goals and the ability of individuals and teams to perform to their full potential.
Key Duties will include:
*Effective management of the People Development function
*Plan, design and deliver a corporate programme of development activities that reflect the strategic priorities of the University and provide professional advice/tailored training initiatives to support the needs of managers and faculties
*Taking a leading role in promoting the University's learning agenda through a range of initiatives such as Leeds Met's pioneering annual Staff Development Festival
*Working in conjunction with the Associate Director, take a leading role in organisational development strategies designed to enhance management capability and organisational performance
*Developing and maintaining high levels of professional knowledge including a network of contacts within the University, across the HE sector and the wider field of people development. Establish a reputation as a credible, informed and creative development professional.
Skills Required:
*You will be a creative training professional with significant experience of developing and implementing learning and development strategies that drive organisational performance
*You will be committed to establishing a coaching culture across the University and will have the leadership, communication and project management skills to make it happen
*You will be able to demonstrate a successful track record in developing and delivering management and leadership development programmes
*Proven ability to lead, coach and manage a team of learning and development professionals in the delivery of consistently high standards of performance and service
*Effective communication skills from interpersonal to large group interaction and in all forms of written communication. Able to use all available fora to secure the contribution and commitment of others and promote learning and development provision
*Proven success in building effective internal and external relationships which generate confidence in the function, high quality provision from external suppliers and a strong presence within the HE sector
*A strong track record in managing the successful delivery of large scale, organisation wide projects including effective organisational and planning skills, resource management and coordination
*Ability to manage a high volume, pressurised workload whilst performing at a high level and demonstrating a positive, motivated approach
