A local government requires a Principal HR Officer to support and advise on redundancy, redeployment, employment relations (ER), disciplinaries and grievances (D&G) and terms of employment. The main scope of this role is to manage, motivate and develop staff on issues such as employment relations, tribunal investigation and employment law. This will include overseeing casework up to employment tribunal level and ensuring that the quality and recommendations made are consistent with current policy. In addition you will be required to coach, mentor and challenge both managers and staff in the implementation of HR policy. The role will also require you to build and maintain effective relationships with trade union representatives and play a key role in negotiation between the unions and the council. Championing equality and diversity through promotion of understanding and application in all employment relations work and interventions is key part of this role. To develop and maintain specific, measurable and realistic policy and advising on any actions that affect them. You will have a proven track record of operating within local government on key employment relations matters and working to tight deadlines. This role is a three month contract and will be looking to start as soon as possible.
