UK HR ManagerAs our new HR Manager, you will be joining a UK Human Resources department of 26 who are based across our main locations in London and consist of HR generalists, experts in L&D, Resourcing and C&B. The HR Manager will be responsible for providing a full Human Resources service to TNS Media, a diverse business that specialises in Media Intelligence, Media Research and customised Sport research. Operating within a business partner framework, the role has arisen in order to strategically support this newly merged sector of TNS. As both businesses have previously enjoyed on site HR Executive support, flexibility on travel to the locations (Hanger Lane in West London and our City offices) will be critical to the success of the role.TNS is a Global organisation providing market information and analysis, together with Sixth Sense insights to local and multinational organisations. We are the worlds largest custom research company, a leading provider of social and political polling and a major supplier of consumer panel, TV and radio audience measurement, healthcare, IT, telecoms, automotive and media intelligence services.Employing over 15,000 people worldwide and roughly 1700 people in the UK across 15 locations, our turnover for 2007 was £1,067.7 million which represented a 6.3% growth compared to 2006.Job role / description:Overseeing the provision of the HR service for the UK Media business across various sites employing approximately 400 staff, the role involves working with the UK HR team, Group Human Resources, Managing Directors, Board Directors and Sector Heads. More specifically:- Directly managing and developing 2 HR administrators.
- Contributing to the overall management of the HR function through working with our senior HR professionals.
- Working closely with the MDs of Media Research, Media Intelligence and TNS Sport and their direct reports to ensure that a high quality, commercially focussed consultancy style HR service is delivered to a diverse client base.
- Involvement in recruitment and selection of middle to senior management
- Ensuring that all employee relations activities within remit are handled fairly and equitably.
- Where appropriate, assisting with change management activities such as business re-structuring and integration programmes.
- Identifying training needs, and carrying out some design and delivery of programmes.
- Coaching managers through handling their people issues and acting as a sounding board.
- Participation in UK-wide HR projects as well as business driven initiatives.

Person specification:This is a demanding role requiring the following attributes:- CIPD qualified with strong generalist experience including exposure to operating autonomously in a managerial capacity within a fast moving commercial environment.
- Proven experience of contributing to the development and evolution of a proactive HR service.
- Experience of executing the HR strategy as well as competently dealing with operational issues.
- Strong working knowledge of employee relations including handling wide scale redundancy programmes, integration activities and dismissals.
- Ideally Employment Tribunals, TUPE and M&A experience.
- Strong consultancy skills with a commercial outlook.
- Ability to communicate with and influence senior managers and develop sound working relationships within a diverse client base.
- Experience of operating and effectively managing in an environment of change.
- Willingness to work and travel across multiple sites.
- Supervisory experience
