Job Description

HR Officer and a Multinational Law firm - to £40k

  

This global law firm are looking for an HR Officer to working in one of their leading client groups. Duties will include:-

  • Counselling staff and dealing with queries - ensuring appropriate confidentiality at all times
  • Attend regular meetings with the GMs to discuss current issues and problems
  • Monitor sickness absence and conduct absence meetings where appropriate
  • Responsibility for the maternity process, ensuring staff are given correct counselling and information. Instruct payroll accordingly and liaise with practice groups on the effects on manpower planning.
  • Advise staff on all career and flexible working policies and procedures
  • Manage the grievance or disciplinary procedures for support staff
  • Undertake exit interviews and follow-up on any required action
  • Monitor under-performance amongst support staff and junior associates and take action as necessary
  • Keep up to date file notes for all employee relations issues
  • Co-ordinate and manage the practice's performance review process for support staff
  • Work closely with GMs to moderate and monitor standards of performance review meetings and ratings across the different practice groups
  • Coach Managers and fee-earners in how to deliver messages
  • Co-ordinate performance review training
  • Ensure review periods are diarised and organise any further training requirements (monitor relevant performance issues)
  • Responsibility for the practice's probationary review process (with support from the HRM as appropriate)
  • Assist HRM with the management of the fee-earner performance review process
  • Work closely with the HRM in producing a manpower plan for the individual practice groups and monitor headcount control closely
  • Keep up to date with all staff movements (leavers, joiners, secondments etc)
  • Monitor and, with the HRM, approve costs incurred by line amnagers (such as temp staff, overtime etc)
  • Ensure appropriate records/files and computerised data are kept up-to-date for all staff under remit
  • Ensuring accurate production of monthly HRMI
  • Overall responsibility for international secondments (with support from HRM)
  • Management of the newly qualified (NQ) associate hire process
  • Responsibility for trainees within client group (in partnership with the Trainee HR team), including monitoring trainee numbers and trainee feedback
  • Liaise with GMs to determine appropriate LPA recruitment process and attend assessment centres and interviews where necessary.
  • Oversee paralegal resourcing and recruitment.
  • Monitor relationships and service levels with PSL agencies
  • Monitor and update Banking job vacancies on the intranet
  • Provide salary or employment law advice where necessary
  • Organise temporary cover where necessary.
  • Work alongside the HRM on the recruitment process for associates including liaison with recruitment agencies, sifting CVs and organising adverts as appropriate.
