Human Resources Advisor / HR Officer
Doncaster, South Yorkshire
Our client employs over 700 staff to manage nearly 22,000 properties on behalf of Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council. They are committed to providing quality homes in quality neighbourhoods and seek to recruit, retain and develop employees who will contribute to the delivery of that aim.
Having received a 2 star service rating following a recent audit Commission Inspection, they are now strengthening their capacity to provide a quality service to the staff, management and board by restructuring the Human Resources Department.
They are currently looking to recruit a HR Advisor to provide an efficient human resource service to the employees and management.
The post holder will be responsible for advising managers on employee conditions of service. You will be expected to assist during investigations into discipline, grievance and sickness absence matters and advise management in this regard. It will be your responsibility to provide a comprehensive advisory service to all employees in relation to all aspects of human resource management and to participate in employee and trade union consultation and communication processes.
You will effectively maintain a system for storing records and files relating to casework, including a computerised database, and will prepare reports for management. Attending joint consultation meetings, as required, with trade union representatives will be a requirement of the role, as will liasing with external agencies and research publications. You will also actively participate in the HR processes and practices in order to seek improvements in the performance of the service, ensuring provision of best value.
The successful candidate will be CIPD qualified with experience of working with trade unions. It is essential that you have excellent communication skills and the ability to take part in meetings. Knowledge of computerised human resources systems and experience of report preparation is required and candidates must be able to demonstrate initiative at all times. They are looking for a team player with good negotiation and influencing skills along with an outgoing and self confident personality.
