Your new role:
In order to deliver the force’s mission, SWP have a redefined and modernised people and organisational development function, which you will lead. Reporting to the Chief Constable, you’ll lead the force’s Human Resources and Learning and Development Services teams as they deliver their day to day services to the 5000+ strong workforce.
In addition to operational responsibility this is a true, strategic, director role in which you’ll give sound guidance to the Chief Officer Group (senior leadership team). You will provide outstanding strategic insight and leadership, ensuring that the police force has the skilled, motivated and capable workforce required to provide class leading policing. A key responsibility of this role will be to facilitate any necessary service transformation and cultural change required to improve the force’s services in the changing world of modern policing.
What you’ll need to succeed:
This strategic and operational leadership role requires a specific blend of skills and experience; you’ll be a proven leader in the field of Human Resources, Organisational Development and Learning & Development. Having strategic leadership experience at an executive level is essential. You’ll have experience in delivering significant change and transformation in medium to large scale organisations. You’ll be degree qualified with chartered level membership of CIPD and continuous professional development. In terms of your approach, you will be an innovative and open minded leader who takes ownership, supports and inspires their team, is collaborative and delivers on their strategies.
What you’ll get in return:
This role is based in the South Wales Police Headquarters in Bridgend with travel required as necessary throughout the region. The working hours are no less than 37 hours per week, there will however be a requirement to be contactable 24 hours a day as it is a Chief Officer post.
The salary range is £93,611.10 - £105,686.42. In addition you’ll receive a maximum of 40 days annual leave per year + bank holidays, a Chief Officer car scheme, corporate credit card and fuel card and full payment of professional fees at the corporate level.
