Head of HR
Our client is one of the UKs fastest growing and largest independent online retailers with a turnover of over £200 million, employing over 450 staff across three sites around the North of England. Position: Head of HR
Location: Huddersfield - Poundstretcher Building
Job Type: Full Time, Permanent
Hours: 39.5 hours per week
Salary: up to £70,000, dependent on experience

About the role:
It’s exciting times at the company as they continue their rapid growth. Due to their existing Head of HR relocating, the company is now looking for the right person for this important role. You’ll head the HR team of five others and will be accountable for the performance of the HR function. You’ll also attend board meetings, reporting to and advising the Board as needed. As you’d expect, you’ll be developing and implementing the HR Strategy for the business in line with the company’s overall objectives.
Based predominantly at the Huddersfield HQ you’ll report directly to the MD who runs a business that is passionate about developing its people and their potential. In order to help drive that agenda you’ll be given sufficient resources and scope to further develop the company's culture of high performance. Whilst you might come in as the Head of Human Resources, they are looking for someone who’ll have the capability and ambition to become the future Human Resources Director as the business continues to grow.
As the Head of Human Resources there’s lots for you to get your teeth stuck in to, including the development of the new businesses recruitment strategy, implementing a programme for talent management, improving employee engagement and managing training and development, succession planning and payroll. It’s key for the business that you’re able to adapt your style as you’ll be working at many levels, including the Board, senior management team, and each employee throughout the business. The breath of activities you’ll be responsible for is wide and you will need to be ready for whatever comes your way!
As you’d expect, the company need you to come from a strong HR background, definitely within a highly commercial, fast paced environment, and if it happens to be in retail or online retail, that’s even better!
There’s so much growth going on that you must be flexible and able to adapt to the needs of the business, which includes being hands on and willing to get stuck in to whatever is needed. It will come as no surprise that you need to be up to date on employment law. It’s an exciting role in a business which never stops, so you need to thrive on challenge, and must be ambitious if you want to succeed!
