Head of People Engagement & Development, Derby. Permanent, 60k

With over 75 years’ experience MHA put people at the heart of everything they do in all their homes and schemes across Britain. MHA employ 7500 colleagues nationally and this is a key role which will focus on the design and delivery of the leadership training programme.

The purpose of the role:

  • To lead the development and implementation of the organisations people engagement and development strategy and plans to position the organisation as an ‘employer of choice’ in the sector
  • To develop an effective performance management system and processes to drive a high-performance culture – including performance review process, talent management and succession planning 
  • To ensure effective systems, processes, reporting and evaluation are in place to enable MHA to meet its key performance indicators
  • Lead on the organisations culture programme and the development of engaging leadership capability in the organisation. This includes introduction and embedding of a coaching culture 
  • Manage the organisations employee engagement measurement systems including pulse surveys and ensure they deliver continuous improvement activity both at organisational and site level 
  • Contribute to and support the internal communication strategy and plans and ensure effective utilisation of internal communication channels to drive employee engagement and involvement 
  • To be a key influencer across the organisation on the importance of engagement and effective leadership
  • To lead and support the delivery of change management projects including organisation design and workforce planning change
  • To ensure effective people development systems, policies, reporting and evaluation are in place
  • Undertake regular benchmarking, internally and externally, to assess the organisations position in the market and to lead on identifying continuous improvement action required to enable and support the organisation to be a high performing organisation 
The skills required to apply for this role: 
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, lead and motivate others and skills to work effectively cross functionally
  • Excellent knowledge of change management strategies, processes and interventions including culture change
  • Wide knowledge of design and delivery of OD management strategies and L&D initiatives to meet business needs with recent achievements and awareness of future issues
  • Flexible approach to working hours, able to travel and stay overnight on occasions
  • Experience of developing OD and L&D strategies evidenced by demonstrable positive results
  • Experience of setting, monitoring and achieving personal, team and organisational standards and targets in a positive way
  • Project management ability
  • Experience of managing and/or advising on organisational change and growth
