Purpose of role

 To design, develop, implement and manage the Reward strategy for employees across our UK business.

To work closely with Group Reward & Pensions to ensure full alignment with global strategy and approach.

To ensure a simple, flexible and informative approach to resource planning in line with the UK business’ standard operating model and its commercial performance.


Job role and responsibilities:


Define the UK reward strategy, ensuring it aligns with the UK operating model and Group approach, enabling both attraction and retention of our employees. Ensure clear and simple principles, governance and processes to manage this, including clear lines of decision making and accountability.

Review, simplify and maintain responsibility for the design, delivery and control of the bonus and commission schemes and processes, working closely with Finance to define and agree the business targets.

Own and refine the structure of the standard UK operating model, ensuring it is fully aligned with Finance and the business’ operating budgets, refreshing and forecasting resource needs across key roles on a quarterly basis. Drive discussion and decision-making based on business performance and associated resource ratios needed. To identify opportunities that drive productivity and efficiency and to make recruitment recommendations for resourcing. To identify and make plans for any seasonal resource peaks and troughs.

Provide timely advice to HR business partners and line managers on key roles with regards to role sizing and associated reward - ensuring consistency, fairness and cost control.

Conduct an annual pay and benefits benchmarking across key UK roles to maintain competitive packages and market competitor analysis is kept current. Regularly review and maintain relationships with external suppliers of employee benefits, ensuring value for money


Skills and Experience required:

Excellent attention to detail

Significant numerical ability – finance background beneficial

High level of experience in commission-based sales environments

Experience of salary reviews and surveys, job evaluation and sizing

Good working knowledge of the tax implications and legal compliance requirements of reward

Background demonstrating resource planning/forecasting within a large business, preferably with retail experience, with proven success in a customer facing environment

Experience of creating and implementing HR & Reward policies and managing the change             

Excellent interpersonal, communication and relationship skills – collaboration needed across all levels, within HR and across the business

Strong and proven project management skills

High level of experience of using HR databases and other IT systems - advanced analytical and Excel skills key

 This role will include travel across the UK; a full driving licence is required.
