Corporate is certainly not a word you would use to describe us. We’re informal, unreserved and ambitious.

Lawton Communications Group are a duo of a marketing agency and a culture consultancy, each with their own brand and own identity. They work with big names on huge campaigns and complex projects where no two days are the same.

Our Group Services function is not a distant call centre, far from it. We’re hands-on, pragmatic and take a client-first approach to supporting the teams so they can focus on outstanding work.

We’re based in Southampton and are an independent, second-generation family owned business. This influences our working environment, our management style and our approach to people. We’re certainly not precious about status or hierarchy; we help out where it’s needed.

We’re looking for someone to join the HR team at Advisor/Officer level. It’s very much a generalist role, you know the drill: recruitment, payroll, L&D, line manager support and guidance, ER when it’s needed; or as we like to call it, a “roll your sleeves up and get stuck in” type of role.

The most important thing for us is making sure we have the right person for the role, so this next bit is all about you:

You’re a straight-forward, say-it-like-it-is kind of person, but who has the tact and diplomacy to know when a more subtle coaching approach is more appropriate.

You’re comfortable with ambiguity – you know that grey fuzzy space that HR works in- but are able to work through it, find solutions and manage the unknowns. Most importantly, you can do it with confidence and credibility.

You’ll like variety too and be happy to get involved in what needs doing, but also be keeping one eye on future developments and requirements, making suggestions and being proactive in your approach to support the teams.

You’re also a collaborative team member, working with the HR Manager on strategic projects and providing guidance and support to the HR Administrator on a day-to-day basis. Occasionally you might need to provide cover for reception too.

There’s room to grow here and scope to develop the role as the business expands. We also have a range of benefits including PMI, dental, EAP and holiday-buy, as well as 25 days holiday (increasing to 27 with service).

We’re happy to talk flexible working – we’re looking for someone to work between 25-30 hours a week but can be flexible about the pattern.
