The Headteacher and Governors of the Hammersmith Academy Trust invite applications for the HR Manager and PA post at this innovative 11-18 Academy. Sponsored by City of London Livery Companies the Mercers’ Company and the Information Technologists’ Company, the Academy opened in September 2011 to Year 7 and Year 12 students and has grown to 835 on roll by 2017.
Applications are welcomed from suitably qualified candidates with the appropriate skills, vision and desire to work at the Academy, where expectations are high and there is a strong focus on student achievement.
The role combines HR and Personal Assistant support to the Head teacher.
To lead the recruitment process for all teaching and support staff – leading and proactively filling vacant posts with high calibre staff;
To coordinate all staff safeguarding checks and documentation whilst maintaining the Single Central Register (SCR);
Provide first line advice on current and existing benefits for employees and managers.
Develop HR policy and procedures to drive performance and mitigate disputes.
Advise managers on the terms and conditions of employment and knowledge share best practice with them.
Participate in the implementation of specific projects including the staff recruitment and retention group, developing procedures and guidelines to help align the workforce with the strategic goals of the organisation
Managing the Academy buddy system for new employees
Responsible for the managing the annual staff survey
To be responsible for the accurate and timely completion of the School Workforce Census
Personal Assistant to Headteacher
To support the Head in all matters relating to the Academy
Minutes and participate in weekly Senior Leadership meetings, this includes coordinating agendas and papers
Support academy events as required including parent evenings, open evenings and community events;
Being one of the first points of contact for the School - ‘The face of Hammersmith Academy’;
Screening telephone calls, enquiries and requests to the Head;
Coordination of the Head’s diary including liaison with contacts listed in ‘key relationships’ listed below;
Dealing with incoming email and post, often corresponding on behalf of the Head
Initially handling complaints; ensuring complaints are dealt with tactfully; attempting to resolve minor matters and referring more serious matters to the Head;
Responsible for all exclusion paperwork and preparation of disciplinary hearings;
Arranging meetings, travel and expenses for the Head;
Taking dictation and minutes when appropriate;
Utilising on-line databases to produce policies and procedures for the school, as requested;
Producing regular reports, briefing papers and presentations for the Sponsors and similar;
Liaising effectively with the Clerks to the Governing Body and clerking the Curriculum Committee;
To carry out other reasonable tasks from time to time as directed by the Headteacher.
