Our client was formed from the merger of two successful colleges in Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft. They are an established further education college offering fantastic breadth of subjects and vocational training – turning passions into professions.
They are now looking for a Payroll Officer to take responsibility for the collation of all payroll data to be communicated to the outsourced payroll provider.
Acting as primary contact, you will ensure accurate processing of payroll data for all campuses to facilitate timely employee payments. Keeping payroll technical knowledge up to date, you will calculate pay arrears and holiday pay and provide input into monthly payroll journals and payroll accounts, liaising with the Finance team as required. As Payroll Officer, you will also be responsible for processing travel expenses for payment by outsourced payroll provider and for dealing with any payroll enquiries from employees.
Candidates for this role must be qualified to Level 2 in literacy and numeracy and have previous experience of working in a HR or payroll/finance function. With excellent communication skills and the ability to plan, prioritise and organise own workload, you will have knowledge of general office based IT packages included Microsoft Word and Excel, and have up to date payroll knowledge including SMP, OSPP and SSP.
Experience of working in a college or education establishment will be of distinct advantage, as would IPP or an equivalent payroll qualification.
