Hays Human Resources is proud to be working in partnership with Bedfordshire Police, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Constabularies (BCH) who due to a HR transformation programme are looking to recruit a People Business Partner to join their team in Bedfordshire. In line with their overall HR strategy, the constabulary are creating a solutions-driven, digitally enabled and cohesive HR function.

This is an exciting time to join BCH. The very future of HR as a value adding function hinges on the ability of the People Business Partners to operate as consultants to the people agenda.  This is less about traditional HR function and practice and more about being architects of organisational performance through people.  To support this it is proposed that the Business partnering function across the HR portfolio is merged into one role, that of People Business Partner.

This role is key to aligning the whole of the HR strategy to BCH force level strategic aims and priorities.  It is positioned as a Senior HR role, working alongside the business and HR leaders to deliver upon the HR delivery plan on the full range of HR activity including attraction, change, retention and reward, ER, leadership, learning, people development and engagement and wellbeing.

Reporting to the Assistant Director, Human resources, the People Business Partner will focus on creating a purposeful connection between the business and HR through a deep understanding of their portfolio, spotting risks and opportunities.  They will be tasked to enable cost effective HR through ensuring via the Head of roles that HR is delivering what is promised and on time.  The People Business Partner is a catalyst for change, through critical evaluation and influencing to deliver results that directly improve organisational performance.

You will have a post graduate management qualification and will be MCIPD/FCIPD or have equivalent experience. You will have a proven track record in of at least 5 years’ experience working at a senior HR level, in a business partner or consultancy capacity.

Your tool kit will also include experience of project managing change, workforce planning, budgetary analysis, providing expertise in terms of designing functions and development programmes. You will also have working knowledge of equality and diversity and experience of having carried out successful initiatives to improve representation in the work force. Extremely people focussed, you will always see the bigger picture, be innovative in your thinking and collaborative in your approach. With a genuine interest in people performance, you will be a real problem solver and a really effective communicator. You will be really flexible in your approach with an ability to really pull the sleeves up and deliver.

You will be expected to work in Bedford but travel across the three sites, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire will be required. There is flexibility around diary management.
