Programme Manager - London - Insurance up to £100K base + bonus/benefits

A global insurance firm based in London are now searching for a Programme Manager accountable for the delivery of all Transformation Programme workstreams to meet agreed outcomes and timescales. This person will run Programme Governance including chairing the Programme Board within this part of the business. You will have a strong impact on business change & delivery within the group.

Purpose of the Role

  • Accountable for programme planning, tracking, budget and risk and issue management
  • Manage programme stakeholder relationships and expectations
  • Provide direction and management to project managers
  • Ensure a suitable skilled programme team through performance management, recruitment and exiting team members to ensure the right resource and skill mix is available to deliver agreed objectives

Main Responsibilities & Accountabilities

Programme management

  • Define potential projects sufficient for a decision to be made on viability given costs, timescales and risks
  • Coordinate, direct and oversee the implementation of a set of related projects and activities in order to deliver outcomes and benefits related to the strategic objectives
  • Ensure project progress, risks and issues are monitored, reported and escalated as required through the appropriate governance structures
  • Accountable for budgets and benefit tracking

Team

  • Ensure a suitable skilled programme team through performance management, recruitment and exiting team members to ensure the right resource and skill mix is available to deliver agreed objectives
  • Provide direction and performance management to project managers and other team members in order to deliver projects to the agreed scope and requirement, timescales and budget

Stakeholder management

  • Working closely with the Programme Director, manage key programme stakeholder relationships, setting reasonable expectations for programme involvement and delivery

Competency Indicators

  • Delivery of programme objectives to agreed quality, cost and timescales
  • Ensuring programme deliverables meet the agreed scope and requirements
  • Effectiveness of communication to programme stakeholders
  • Effective resource management of programme team members

Required Knowledge / Experience

  • Extensive experience in programme management in a complex global IT environment
  • Good and practical knowledge of programme management methodologies and associated professional standards
  • Matrix Management of programme teams
  • Commercially astute
  • Good understanding of IT products and services
  • MSP or similar qualification
