Job Title: Recruitment and HR Officer

Location: Haywards Heath, West Sussex

Salary: up to £35,000 per annum depending on experience

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

The Role:

The role of the Recruitment and HR Officer is a generalist role with a strong focus on recruitment related tasks and responsibilities, especially in ensuring consistent compliance in the regulatory vetting checks and procedures, providing a wide variety of technical and administrative support across all aspects of HR.

This position requires efficiency, initiative and an eye for detail with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Much of the work is highly confidential so absolute discretion and professionalism is essential at all times. As a member of a small team the successful candidate will need to be versatile, good at working under pressure and prioritising tasks, and be able to cope with competing and changing demands and deadlines.

Key Duties:

  • To be responsible for and administer the entire recruitment cycle for staff throughout the School. Duties will include the preparation of effective recruitment materials including job descriptions, person specifications, advertisements and information packs for candidates
  • Organise shortlisting and interview/assessment days, including preparation of materials, exercises, rooms and schedules, ensuring all aspects of the interviews run smoothly and efficiently
  • Monitor and implement any changes of the compliance requirements and recommendations as set out by any of the key regulatory bodies or professional monitoring and implementing institutions (DFE, ISI, ISBA) to ensure the recruitment service complies with safer recruitment practices at all times
  • Support the HR Director on recruiting to all senior appointments
  • Develop, implement and evaluate the induction process for all staff
  • In support of the HRD and liaising with the Director of Studies, assist with the related administration and updating of the HR database keeping accurate records for teaching staff with regard to their CPD
  • Ensure that all personal HR records (paper and digital) are accurate and up to date Carry our regular HR audit checks to ensure integrity of data is maintained. Ensure that Data Protection and employment law is adhered to when managing the recording, filing and storage of employee data
  • Maintain up-to-date library of HR policies

About you:

Essential:

  • Good standard of general education
  • CIPD (minimum Level 3) qualification or equivalent experience in a similar role
  • Possess a proven track record of successfully managing recruitment campaigns whilst also working within the constraints of regulatory requirements
  • Previous experience of working within an HR office environment working with transactional HR processes and procedures
  • Full working knowledge and understanding of range of relevant policies / codes of practice and awareness of relevant legislation and relevant HR issues
  • Excellent ICT skills and proficient use of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong interpersonal skills and a customer service focus
  • First class organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure and work to tight deadlines; systematic in approach to tasks, with meticulous attention to detail with sometimes rapidly shifting priorities.
  • Ability to interpret and use statistical data for management information purposes
  • Possess a high level of personal integrity, with proven experience of handling sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy and with complete respect for confidentiality

Desirable:

  • Degree in a related field
  • Experience of working in a school/ educational environment
  • Possess a good understanding of basic recruitment processes within an education environment
  • Awareness of the importance of safeguarding and safer recruitment /Ofsted/ISI compliance
  • Understanding of the role of Independent Schools within the education field.
